My Personal Bio

My first name is Mirka and my surname is Hypén. I am in my mid-forties and live near the center of Porvoo in a detached house with my husband and three children. I love travelling and reading books. However, most of my free time is spent with my kids.

I have studied English philology at the University of Helsinki. I was supposed to be a translator, but there were no jobs available in the early 2000s. So I became a teacher instead. A good decision, I must say! I have worked as a teacher of English at Porvoo Vocational College since 2004. I love my job. I have great colleagues, students and interesting projects to work with. 

In the future, I would like to travel to New Zealand and Canada. I wish I could also get into running a bit more, because it is such a good workout in the open air.

As an employee, I am hard working, enthusiastic and reliable. I enjoy learning new things and are not afraid of challenges. I started learning French last year. It is quite difficult, but totally worth the effort!
